Dr. Michael Yoon is a consultant rheumatologist who provides specialist care in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune, inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions. He consults in both public and private settings, with appointments available through hospital and private clinics.

  • Nailfold capillaroscopy – a specialised, non-invasive assessment of the small blood vessels to assist in evaluating certain autoimmune conditions

When should you see a rheumatologist?

You should ask your GP for a referral to see a rheumatologist if:

  • You have ongoing joint pain, swelling, or stiffness

  • Your GP suspects an inflammatory or autoimmune condition

  • You have abnormal blood tests or symptoms that need further specialist assessment

About Dr. Yoon

Dr. Jang Michael Yoon is a staff specialist at Campbelltown & Camden Hospital and strongly committed to improving patient outcomes. He has a particular sub-specialty interest in axial spondyloarthritis and is dedicated to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care. 

Dr. Yoon completed his Advanced Training in Rheumatology at Campbelltown and Westmead Hospitals in NSW before pursuing a Clinical Research Fellowship in axial spondyloarthritis at Royal United Bath Hospital, UK, in 2024. His passion for patient-centered care and clinical research drives his continuous efforts to enhance treatment approaches. 

In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Yoon serves as a Conjoint Lecturer at Western Sydney University, contributing to medical education and mentoring future healthcare professionals.

We aim to make your consultation as smooth and informative as possible. Below you’ll find key information on how to book an appointment, what to bring, and what to expect during your consultation.

Appointments can be arranged once a valid referral from your GP or specialist has been received. Please ensure your referral is current when contacting the clinic. Referral letters can be emailed to info@ssws.xestro.com

Please bring the following:

  • A valid referral letter

  • Your Medicare, DVA or Pensioner Concession Card

  • Any relevant test results (e.g. blood tests, imaging, scans)

  • A list of your current medications

  • Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for registration and paperwork

  • Wearing loose, comfortable clothing is recommended to assist with examination

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is requested for cancellations or rescheduling

Yes, you are very welcome to bring a family member or support person to your appointment, and this is often encouraged to help you feel more comfortable and supported.

Our fees cover a consultation with Dr Yoon in relation to your rheumatological condition, and are based on the complexity of your medical needs.

Additional fees may apply for add-on services, including joint or other types of injections, nailfold capillaroscopy, and medical reports.

Each consultation routinely includes one letter to your referring doctor; however, any additional reports requested by you will incur an additional fee, which is quoted based on the estimated time required for completion by Dr Yoon. All additional services will be discussed and quoted prior to proceeding.

Dr. Yoon cares for a number of patients from rural and regional Australia, as well as those living interstate. An initial in-person consultation is required to allow for a thorough assessment and physical examination. Depending on individual clinical circumstances and following doctor review, follow-up appointments may be conducted via Telehealth, preferably by video, or by phone.

From time to time, Dr. Yoon may also organise brief phone discussions outside of scheduled appointments to communicate important results or updates.

Eligible patients may receive a Medicare rebate for consultations with a valid referral. The exact rebate varies depending on the consultation type, and our staff can provide further details if required.
